Allium cepa 'Red Karmen'

Onion

Red Karmen onion, Allium cepa ‘Red Karmen’, is an attractive and impressive, beautiful red-skinned onion with flattened-globe-shaped roots. This very fine and sweet onion has a crimson color between individual skins.  The Red Karmen are often consumed raw, grilled, or lightly cooked with other foods; tend to lose their redness when cooked. They will surely add color to your favorite tossed salad! This medium sized early onion has a very good storage life. Red Karmen can be planted as early as the soil can be worked into any well-drained garden soil. Plant the Red Karmen 1 inch deep and 2 to 4 inches apart. Cover with soil, but do not compact the soil and if you have additional rows, the rows should be 12 to 18 inches apart.

Onion Growing and Maintenance Tips

Onions prefer light, sandy, loamy soils, so the most successful onions are grown in well-prepared, well-dug, and well-drained soil with plenty of added organic matter and lots of sunshine.
